The photographer that took this picture is named Bernie Kasper and the title of the photo is “Ringwood falls”. The feeling I get from the picture is complete stillness. Even the water seems like it wasn’t running at all and for a picture of a waterfall it seems like a rarity. I also like the contrast between the dark and the white in this image; it makes the image seem almost completely black and white but if one looks closely enough the brown of the rocks is visible. There isn’t really any symbolism or deeper meaning in this picture. I think the photographer just took it because it looks like an interesting shot, not really to portray any story or message. The texture of the rocks also plays a big part in this photo.

This photo was also taken by Bernie Kasper and its title is “Dahlia B&W Abstract.” To me the photo seems to have a feeling of serenity or calmness about it. I really like the lighting affects the photographer used also, they make the flower stand out more. Again there is a contrast between light and dark which helps bring out the sharp edges and outline of the flower as the subject in the photo. It’s made up of mostly curved and straight lines and; it also has a great sense of value. The balance leans toward the left in the photo along with the flower and I think the photographer did this because it is a different way of looking at it. The flower might have looked different head on.

5 Facts about Bernie Kasper

  • He is from Madison, Indiana
  • He photographs a lot of topography and wildlife
  • The name of his company is BFK Photography
  • He titles his art “Visions of Madison Indiana”
  • He most enjoys taking shots of winter scenery

My next photographer goes by the name of Paul Jenkins and the title of this painting is “Continental Divide”. I think that because of the title and the way that the colors flow in this picture there may be some kind of symbolism or message that has to do with diversity. The line in the middle may stand for two groups of people separating themselves and the color change of the first group to red may represent how everyone is basically the same. The blending of the color also creates a sense of unity in the painting; it helps the differences in color come together as a whole and takes away any strong or harsh visual

contrasts. Overall this picture seems to have an energetic feel to it.

The title of this painting is “Phenomena Broken Special Annex” and I think this picture is pretty much exactly what I would expect abstract art to look like. It’s all over the place and has many different colors and values. There seems to be an emphasis toward the middle of the painting but I can’t tell what the figure or subject is. It might be some kind of man or robot but I can’t tell for sure. The lines in the painting are thick lines that give the appearance that the painting may be extremely large. Something interesting I noticed about the painting was how the variety of color changed. Toward the center it would be multicolored while the outsides of the painting were single colored.

5 Facts about Paul Jenkins

This picture is untitled. It is a photo of a bowl in my house under some lights. I like the light in the photo because it makes the bowl glow. It also makes the shape of a smiley face. The emphasis of the picture is obviously the bowl because it is the only item in the picture. The bowl is gold but its hard to see because the bottom half is in shadow. The fact that there are two lights adds an effect of balance to the picture and smoothes out the dark to light ration in the photograph. If you look closely you can see the grainy texture of the bowl, compared to the smoothness of the wall behind it it creates variety in the picture.

This picture is also untitled. Its a picture of the little sandal thing hanging in the window of Ellen's car. As you can see there is a lot of color in this photo which creates some variety in the picture. This photo does not have a message. i would know, because i took it.
